Cash Games, Stakes and Hours

Our poker room sits on a 70,000 sq ft gaming floor at 8811 River Road in Richmond, British Columbia. We spread No Limit Texas Hold’em and Omaha at four regular stake levels, with a separate high-limit section set away from the busier main floor.

Stake LevelFormat
1/3No Limit Texas Hold’em
2/5No Limit Texas Hold’em
5/5No Limit Texas Hold’em
5/10No Limit Texas Hold’em

The 5/10 NLHE game stands out a bit in BC. Not every poker room in the province runs that level on a consistent basis, so if that is your usual range, River Rock is one of the steady options in the greater Vancouver area.

Hours shift slightly through the week. From Monday to Thursday the room opens at 11:00 AM and closes at 4:00 AM. On Friday we start at 10:00 AM and then the room rolls straight through the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are both 24-hour, with play on Sunday carrying on until 4:00 AM Monday. In practice, from Friday morning to early Monday morning, there is no scheduled shut down.

We operate eight regular tables plus two in the high-limit area. High-limit seating is physically separated from the rest of the room, and that cut in noise and traffic is noticeable when you are in a longer session and want fewer distractions.

If you want to know about open seats before you drive in, call +1 (604) 247-8983 and ask for the poker supervisor. At the moment, that direct call is the reliable option - we have not verified any working online reservation system through riverrock.com or the Great Canadian Entertainment portal.

Superstack Sundays

Every Sunday at 12:00 PM PT, our team runs Superstack Sundays inside the poker room. The only exception is the first Sunday of each month, when the event does not go, so it is always worth a quick check before you make a longer trip.

The tournament structure leans to the slower side. With 20-minute blind levels and a 15,000 starting stack, this format is clearly not a turbo. Players who prefer to see more flops and make actual decisions, instead of sitting in shove-or-fold spots every orbit, tend to find this pace comfortable. The $200 buy-in covers the full starting stack, so there is no separate add-on to keep track of or any small-print confusion.

The field is capped at 60 entries. On heavier Sundays that cap can hit, and once the list is full, seats are simply not available. Calling ahead or getting to the podium early is the practical move. Registration follows the same basic pattern as our cash games: call +1 (604) 247-8983 or walk up in person and speak with the supervisor on duty.

Getting a Seat, Walk-In or Phone

There are two simple ways to get into a game with us. Phone works better if you are coming from outside Richmond and prefer not to wait in the room for long stretches.

Phone option:

  1. Call +1 (604) 247-8983
  2. Tell the supervisor your preferred stake level or that you are aiming for Superstack Sundays
  3. Ask for the current wait list details
  4. Confirm likely timing and whether a table is opening in your window
  5. Head to the poker room entrance on the casino floor

Walk-in option:

  1. Arrive at 8811 River Road, Richmond, BC
  2. Make your way to the dedicated poker room on the gaming floor
  3. Check in with the supervisor at the front desk
  4. Ask directly for a seat or have your name added to the wait list
  5. Stay in the designated waiting area until your name is called and a seat opens

One practical point that applies here and at most rooms: if you are traveling specifically for a tournament, call the day before, then again on the morning of the event. Schedules can adjust, and with a 60-seat cap in play, registration can close quicker than expected.

Poker Room at a Glance

Poker Room at a Glance

River Rock Casino Resort runs a dedicated poker room with eight regular tables and two high-limit tables separated from the main floor, giving players a quieter environment for longer sessions.

The room spreads four stake levels of No Limit Texas Hold’em - 1/3, 2/5, 5/5, and 5/10 - making it one of the few venues in British Columbia that consistently offers the 5/10 level. Superstack Sundays tournaments run every Sunday at 12 PM PT with a $200 buy-in and 15,000 starting chips, capped at 60 players. To check seat availability before arriving, call the poker supervisor directly at +1 (604) 247-8983.

The Resort and Gaming Floor

River Rock opened to the public on June 25, 2004. We are operated by Great Canadian Entertainment, which many players still remember under the previous name, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation. The property sits in Richmond, about 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver, and a shade under 15 minutes from YVR by the Canada Line. That transit link is genuinely useful if you are flying in for a session or staying for a poker weekend.

The full resort property includes:

  1. 1,100+ slot machines
  2. Over 110 combined table and poker games
  3. A dedicated poker room for cash play and tournaments
  4. High-limit VIP rooms on the gaming floor
  5. A racebook lounge for horse race betting
  6. A 396-room hotel with pool, spa tub, fitness centre and several restaurants

Our racebook runs on its own phone line at (604) 247-5411, separate from the poker room number. It operates as its own space with live race feeds and dedicated seating. If you split your time between poker tables and horse betting, you can move between both areas without ever leaving the building.

For players traveling from outside the Lower Mainland, the on-site hotel removes the need to book a separate stay. That is a real convenience when you are still in a game late on a Saturday night and do not want to deal with transit or a long drive at 3:00 AM.

Poker Room vs. the Main Floor

Our poker room is a standalone, dedicated space, not just a few poker tables pushed into the corner of the main pit. That distinction matters more in practice than it might on paper. Noise, foot traffic, general pace - all of that feels different in the poker room than it does on the main gaming floor. Within the room, the high-limit tables are set even further apart.

On the main floor you will find blackjack, baccarat, roulette and craps, which you can mix into a visit if you want non-poker action. The poker room, though, runs with its own supervisor and its own rhythm, and regular players tend to appreciate that separation.

When players compare options around the Vancouver area, Parq Vancouver and Grand Villa Casino are usually the other two names in the mix. Our main points of difference are the Superstack Sundays brand and the regular spread of 5/10 NLHE. Not every room in BC offers both on a steady basis, which is why River Rock draws a pool of players from across the Lower Mainland, not just from Richmond locals.
